This was worth 8 months of planning. Initially I wanted already stop here on my way to the wedding in Hanoi in October 2025. And it is too far from Saigon for just a day trip. On my way to my third Half-Marathon, this time in Can Tho, in September 2025 I stopped in and talked with Tri Anh’s mother, since she manages a hotel near the mountain. But the plan changed.

Early April 2026 I got 6 consecutive days of, so I thought about combining several mountains. But it was also the time of the memorial, and eventually there was only time for Daytrip to Núi Lang Biang. A new chance appeared at the end of April, and I started the 5 Mountains in 5 days. Brah Yang was number 4!

The hike

With breakfast, some apples as nutrition on the way and 4 smartphones I ventured of at 9:00 from the hotel. I had already downloaded the trip from Wikiloc and imported into Komoot. Driving from the highland of about 960 meter height I continued on the path for 3 kilometers from the designated starting point on partly paved road, then ventured left on the fork where the reference tour went right, continued over a bridge to a height of about 1180 meters. By then my clutch was getting very hot and the inclination of the road steeper and steeper. I parked it on a prominent rock in one corner. Returning a few hours later I would spot my bike already from one kilometer away.

I was still not ready to start the hike. All of a sudden Wikiloc would not track offline on the phone. I had not downloaded the height maps into Komoot yet - good that I was a little higher, so I still had cell reception to get the required files. Eventually I had my apple watch to track the journey, and four phones plus a battery pack to have offline map verification and my location in a height map.

On the way I only met a father with his daughter on a motor bike early in the hike, and a group of 4 young man, travelling Brah Yang in the opposite direction.

Reaching the top

Finally on the top, I checked the height reading. The cairn reads
