End of April 2026 had a unique opportunity. There are five consecutive free days, since I have no lesson on Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday are holidays! Here are the 5 hiking destinations for 5 days:
- 29.04. Vũng Tàu, Núi Vũng Maý I - 220 m
- 30.04. Núi Chứa Chan I - 837 m
- 01.05. Núi Tà Cú II or actually Đỉnh Nọc Trù - 694 m
- 02.05. Núi Brah Yang I - 1879 (1866) m
- 03.05. Third time to Núi Thị Vải III - 467 m
The start on Wednesday is a little delayed because of a 200M investment to preferred conditions at Vietcombank. It pays to be a “Titan” customer, I just hit the limit with AML laws.
Wednesday - Mountains in Vũng Tàu, Núi Vũng Maý I
There are a few mountains in Vũng Tàu, but actually accessible are only a few:
- Nghinh Phong, Núi Nhỏ, 138 m, Wikipedia - Christ of Vũng Tàu, its more about the largest Christian statue across Asia
- Núi Tao Phùng, 176 m, Hải đăng Vũng Tàu (Vung Tao lighthouse) - closed during the night, good view over to the statue of Christ
- Núi Tương Kỳ, 245 m, Núi Lơn, but now has the Du Lịch Hồ Mây with 400k entrance. You can also take the cable care there, some 450k
- Núi Vũng Maý, 220 m, nice round trip on AllTrails
I investigated all 4 peaks with my motorbike (as much as possible) and eventually hiked the last one Núi Vũng Maý I in 1h30.

After more than 8 months of planning I have 4 smartphones to track my journey and provide me with offline location help. A battery pack is with me if a phone battery would die.

I want to be back in HCM in the afternoon for a LDC zoom meeting, so there is only time for a short trip.
